Every year around harvest season, Lyreans celebrate Giants’ Day as a way to pay tribute to Memnos and Lyros, the primordial giants who created land, life and sea. And no one knows how to party quite like the wizards out in the remote Painted Wastes!
They take the quaint traditions of other towns and push them into fantastic spectacles. Where other towns might construct a wooden statue of a giant in the town square, the wizards conjure massive, illusory figures that tower over the day’s festivities. As night falls, the show begins. The giants act out their famed tragedy to the dazzled delight of the crowds underfoot. They embrace, Memnos falls and sprouts a tree from their heart, and Lyros takes their iconic pose as the cliffs of Crestfall, weeping a sea of soft light across the audience.
It is an arduous trek to the Painted Wastes, but anyone determined enough to attend one of these festivals in person is rewarded with a cherished lifelong memory… and often a souvenir bottle of rainbow sand.
